  • Carry your reusable shopping bags when you go shopping for thanksgiving.
  • Use recycled papers for decorations.
  • Don't use plastic dishes for thanksgiving this year to cut down on the waste you will generate. Use your nice dishes instead; it's a celebration after all. Or if it will be a lot of work washing them, then at least use biodegradable dishes.
  • Use cloth napkins which can be washed and reused.
  • Don't cook too much; Reduce the amount of waste you produce by buying only as much as you need as well as by cooking as much as you need.
  • Buy locally; to cut down on the transportation to help reduce carbon emissions produced by shipping of the goods and also to have fresher food.
  • Buy organic; when you buy organic you are ensuring the food on your table is without toxic chemical pesticides, fertilizers, antibiotics and artificial hormones.
  • If you're going to invite your friends or family for thanksgiving, don't invite them by paper invitations, do it by email or sms.
  • In case you needed more lights, use energy efficient light bulbs.
  • Encourage your guests to carpool or use public transportation.
  • Give your guest the eco friendly gadgets with minimal packaging and use recycled wrappings for them. Also try to give them gifts which are durable and that can be used for a longtime.
