Investigation into using commerical and industrial (C&I) waste as a fuel

Original article:

Recovering energy from waste (EfW) is playing an increasing role in generating ‘low carbon’ energy. This supports the UK’s target of generating 15% of its energy from renewable sources by 2020.

Available data suggests that there is a considerable quantity of commercial and industrial (C&I) waste which currently goes to landfill that could be suitable as fuel for EfW.  WRAP has therefore commissioned the research agency Databuild to conduct some exploratory interviews with a range of stakeholders, for example:

      • producers of C&I waste;
      • EfW designers;
      • technology companies;
      • operators of existing and planned EfW sites;
      • trade bodies; and
      • academic institutions conducting research in this area.
